January 20th, five years ago a little red-headed grand daughter was born. Precious gentle flower graced us.....with a little spice at times. Ha ha! Happy Birthday precious Hannah! We love you so very much!!!!

THIS IS the day that the Lord has made - so let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Sometimes though - it's difficult to be joyful in affliction! Trials and trauma that test every fiber of our being - is not an easy task at times. It's then though - that we MUST reflect in WHO God is - NOT what is going on in our lives! Worshipping His majesty....He is our everything! In that - I do rejoice when I begin to ponder all His marvelous ways - from the sunrise to the sunset....formations of clouds, the birds that dance and sing, wind that blows across a wheat field, leaves of a tree so perfectly formed and countless other things to bask in the wonderment of God and His creation!

Still....though....
My heart is heavy today when I remember my daughter and the baby she is carrying is no more. Somewhere in the midst of her first trimester - the baby failed to thrive and died. . . it's her 3rd miscarriage.

They named the baby Enoch. Enoch walked with God and then God took him.
My daughter's surgery will be on Friday - and my heart has a small glimmer of hope that perhaps the ultrasound was wrong - and when they repeat it - they will find that missing heartbeat - and see the blood flowing through that precious baby...and our sorrow of loss will turn to joy!!!

It's a difficult process - and my grandchildren are having a rough time of it trying to deal with the loss! We were so hopeful!

Still - though - life continues - and we must pick ourselves up and go on. Lest we be rendered useless in the growth of the Kingdom of God. Whatever happens on this side of Heaven is nothing to be compared to that which awaits those who follow Jesus! By God's grace - we will go on....

Today's passage of scripture is found in Proverbs 4:23...

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

I can think a countless sermons that could be preached on that subject alone! Our hearts?.....we must guard our hearts! Protect it from the world's insults and barrage of condemnation that oozes out of the fabric of, not only our nation, but our entire world!

Remember today.....and never forget.....we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God created US for HIS pleasure to have fellowship with us! He loves us so much that He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins! It's by grace we are saved by faith! Remember always that He promises to never leave or forsake us and will be with us to the very end! He has engraved you on the palm of His hand and called you His. You are the apple of His eye. Remember WHO YOU ARE! In Christ Jesus - we are the righteousness of God! When the "world" comes trying to knock you down - stand therefore with a armor of God and remember that we are the Saints of God in Christ! [Ephesians 6:10-18] A MIGHTY ARMY that will defeat those not following Jesus. The Kingdom of God will never be shaken - NEVER!

A Proverbs a day.......Keeps the blues away....

Well? It rhymes! I'm not sure if reading in the Book of Proverbs daily keeps the blues away .... but I do know - that it is packed-filled with immeasurable wisdom. Proverbs IS a book about attaining wisdom for our lives! If we read a chapter of Proverbs daily - Chapter 1 on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd...and so on - we will have read the entire book 12 times within the year!

Today's scripture found in the 3rd chapter of Proverbs....

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

One of my favorite passages of scripture and one in which I have lived with for as long as I can remember. Not always do we understand that which happens in our lives - but we can always trust that - no matter what - God will always be with us, never give us more than we can bear, (even though we think we can't handle it....somehow God gives us strength to get us through). God promises to never leave or forsake us. He will be with us to the very end! He also promises that His sheep hear His voice telling them that this is the way to walk!
Some people mistakingly believe that God will somehow reveal Himself in magnificently grandiously ways so that no one can mistake His perfect sovereignty! (And God can - and does at times), but sometimes He reveals Himself in a still small voice......
. . . a whisper . . .

In order to hear Him... we must be still . . . .

Lean NOT on your own understanding! DO NOT be wise in our own eyes! The world tells us to trust in our own hearts - but the WORD says that the heart is deceitful above all else and cannot be trusted! God tell us that the wisdom of the world is as foolishness to Him!

The measuring stick we use MUST be HIS....not by the world's standards!

Be blessed today as you bask in His presence - thanking Him for WHO He is and for all He is about to do through you this year!!!

We do serve an AWESOME God!

New Year's Resolutions....and other stuff!

Wow....it's 2012!!! A time of renewal - and starting over! Just what do I want to accomplish this year??? I pray that God can use me in a productive way to bring Him glory, honor and praise in all I do!

After all - isn't that what we are purposed for? To be in relationship with God - our Heavenly Father and to exemplify Christ in all we do?! To BE Jesus with others in hopes that they can see God's love resonate through us!

Resolutions? Hmmm....
To pray more
Read my Bible more
Eat healthier
Work out and lose weight! (Isn't that on ALL New Year's Resolutions!)

I want to accomplish something - be productive - understand and DO God's will. After all - it is the "Doers" of God's will that inherit the Kingdom of God - not just the hearers only!

This list could be endless - so I'll stop for now!

This new year is starting off a little sad however! The excitement of bringing in the new year with my daughter's new baby-to-be - ended with great sorrow! Still in the process....the disappointment, sadness.....I have no words to describe! My grandchildren are trying to cope with the loss too. Just a LOT to pray about during this emotional time of turmoil!

This is the day that the Lord has made....let us rejoice and be glad in it! Even amidst the trials - God is still on the Throne of Grace paying attention to every detail in our lives. One day He will wipe away every tear!

The end of 2011.... A Year in Retrospect!

The reality of 2011 ending and a new year begins!!!
Wow! 2012 is hard to accept....and yet here it is!
All the New Year's Resolutions made will begin tomorrow! Ha!
My goal is to get healthy... healthier!!! Eat right...lose more weight....and??? Not sure what else. Find a job or start a new venture??? Pray more... LOTS more!!!

This past year has been crazy!

As the year 2011 is fast coming to an end.....I find myself at a loss with what to write. In year's past - I have always been able to write about the year's events, but this last year has been far different from most!

As I began to write this, my son Matthew had just been released from the hospital in South Carolina, where he had a craniotomy, (brain surgery), November 29th, resulting from a recent stroke he had in September 19th, just prior to his 30th birthday. After several Ct Scans and MRI's, they discovered a cavernous hemangioma on his right temporal lobe. (Sadly, cavernous hemangioma's are genetically passed down and many family members from my mother's side of the family are plagued with them). Yale University was going to do a study on our family due to the great number of family who have this condition. Matt's was in the best possible location that would cause the least amount of risk or damage from the necessary surgery. This was his 2nd stroke, (but we actually suspect it's his 3rd!) in 3 years from the same area - so they had to remove it or he would inevitably have another stroke! It was just a matter of time.

I am so thankful that God orchestrated his hand in this whole situation! The surgeon, Dr. Mina, who performed the surgery was the highest recommended surgeon in the entire southern region of the United States! Matt was in very good hands! Although Matt is still in the process of the month-long recovery, we are hopeful that strokes and seizures will be a thing of the past from this day forward! Jessie, his wife, has been by his side the entire time - and won't leave him for a moment unless someone is with him. Actually, he cannot be left alone at this time!

My last year's letter left off with Chris still recovering from his November 5, 2010 back surgery where he had a triple lumbar laminectomy and fusion on his back. I am happy to say, that although the recovery period was long and painful, Chris is doing so much better now! His legs are no longer numb or in pain! He can walk and do normal things again, (within reason)! He still resides with us and recently resumed a full-time schedule at Vol. State Community College pursuing a nursing degree and has started working for our company Wilson Painting, Inc. - bidding and estimating potential job projects! He has become a huge blessing and Steve's right hand man!

My daughter Michelle and son-in-law Jay have moved from Ohio into the state of Tennessee and now reside near Sevierville, TN - which is only 3 1/2 hours from us driving time. If Steve could convince me to fly - it would take only 45 minutes - but I prefer driving! I LOVE having my grandchildren so much closer! Michelle still homeschools and does quite well with it! They just celebrated their youngest - Chloe's 2nd birthday. She's quite a little spit-fire, curly-haired redhead! But her voice will melt your heart!!! Grand-daughter Hannah, with her beautifully long and straight red hair - is simply precious! I am not biased though! Ha! Just speaking the truth!!! She will turn 5 years old in January. Benjamin is 7 now and growing like a weed and Rebekah soon to be 11 years old this month - measures herself to me everytime I visit. The new challenge is to get taller than grandma! Ha!

Recently, Michelle and Jay made an announcement that knocked me for a bit of a loop! I have no words to describe the feelings enmeshed deep within my heart when they told me that they felt God was calling them to be missionaries and were planning to move to Poland. Yes! Poland - the country, on the other-side-of-the-WORLD-Poland! Jay has talked about being a missionary in Poland for years- but Michelle never relented. However, all that has changed and they are making plans to move. I am not sure when, as they have much to prepare beforehand - and money to save in order to make this a reality! But meanwhile, they have begun their daily regimen of language lessons to learn Polish! I am not looking forward to the day that they say their final goodbyes. My heart aches and I am left with a deep sadness of loss! Poland, on the other hand, is gaining a precious family!

They also announced their news of being pregnant and having another baby. Sadly, shortly after Christmas - the ultra-sound showed that the baby had died. My heart aches for my daughter - as it's her 3rd miscarriage!

For other news, my son Josh found a good job working for a local painting company. He lived with us temporarily - but has since found a cute little 2 bedroom house directly across the street from a cemetery not too far from me. At least his neighbors are quiet! Ha! Grandson Micah is now 18 months and such a precious baby a with a sweet disposition! He can say a few words now, but I think cookie is his favorite! Ha ha! This past year though - he has been a regular weekly visitor at the doctor's office and due to his many ear infections - they finally put tubes in his ears. He is doing much better.

As for my husband Steve, he is keeping busy as he is able. Work this year has been far and few between and getting companies to pay once the jobs are complete is like pulling teeth without novacaine! Soo frustrating. I have to say that this year - above all years - is most stressful and financially draining! But we are hanging in there - and taking each day as it comes. Some years are better than others - but this year it's been a pretty dry season - but I think it has been for countless families all across the nation!

When I tried recap and remember this past year - I soon discovered that I didn't keep up with my blog very well! When I sat down and wrote out all that has transpired in 2011, I sadly realized that so many family members and friends have died this year. Heaven's reflections have truly been foremost on my mind! During one week alone - there were three funerals to attend! Steve's dad, Roy Wilson, died just before his 94th birthday!!! Also my brother-in-law, Charlie Crispin, my favorite Aunt Norma Ash, and several friends, along with my cat Snickers, who I had for 16 years!!!

But there were some good things too....like staying at a B&B for the first time ever! My son Matt and daughter-in-law Jessie reserved our rooms and we met them there. We stayed at the Maple Lodge in Blowing Rock, NC and enjoyed ourselves completely! It was a really cool place too!

We also pulled off a family camping trip this past fall, where we all gathered together at Notchy Creek Campground in Vonore, TN! Three tents, heaters and a fifth-wheel! We froze at night - but we had a wonderfully memorable time and hope to make this an annual event!!! However, I think we'll find another campground - as this one was a tad squishy!

I hope your Christmas season was memorable and filled with family gatherings, laughter and memories to cherish! May this coming new year will be filled with God's sweet blessings! May each of us grow closer to Jesus - the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is our shield and defender, a present help in times of trouble. He promises to never leave or forsake us and will be with us to the very end! May you find comfort and peace in Him. God bless you and your family always!

Matt Continues to Improve...

Matt's first night home from the hospital caused quite a stir - when his wife Jessie was awakened and Matt was having another seizure! She urgently tapped on my door, and while she was trying to keep Matt on his side, I quickly dialed 9-1-1! My heart sunk and prayers of pleading began - as we waited for the paramedics and ambulance to arrive.
After an all night stay in the emergency room, they increased Matt's anti-seizure medications. By then - Matt had come back to us! At first he didn't know he had surgery or what was happening to him - but eventually it all came back!
Since then however, Matt is doing very well! His speech is good, motor skills unaffected and he seems completely normal. All except his absent-mindedness which frustrates him. But it's doable!
Continued prayers are so necessary for complete healing. I cannot wait to see them for Christmas - as Matt wanted to spend Christmas morning with us! I feel like I'M the kid now! Ha ha! Soo much to do to prepare...but I am elated to have my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas! Still praying about everyone else!!!!! Time will tell!!!

Praise God!!! Matt is finally home from the hospital! His craniotomy was successful and so far so good! The swelling on the side of his face is minimal! Now for a speedy recovery! Praying!!!!!!

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Pastor, Friend...God calls Conyer Walker home!
Conyer was our pastor and friend! Last night while getting ready for their weekly Bible Study ...Conyer had a massive heart attack and died on the way to the hospital!
Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen,(Conyer's wife), the family, and their church members! May God comfort them and give them a peace which passes all understanding!
My heart is very sad!

Matt's Surgery Day!

Today was the day we deaded! As much as we tried to push it out of our mind it continued to loom over us like a dark drizzly day! The surgery, which we thought would last FIVE long hours, but surprisingly took only 2! After several repeated MRI's, the 10:30 am surgery time bumped up to 12:30 pm,and then to 3:00pm! It was an enormously LONG day of waiting.....waiting....waiting...and waiting some more!
The love and support of his friends was amazing to behold! His buddyy Dennis was there first thing in the morning and stayed all day into the night! We felt so bad that they wouldn't let anyone see him. Only bis wife and his mom-in-law and me! Even then they didn't want us to stay but a few minutes!
There were several from his church and work that stopped by! My son is truly blessed! The friend that stood out the most though was Vic! An elderly gentleman that they recently met on Veterans Day and shared a dinner together! They became fast friends! Vic is a facsinating man with countless stories, pictures and articles. He never forgot Matt's surgery day and came to sit with us ALL DAY LONG!!! It made me realize that relationships are precious in all walks of life! So many blessings to be thankful for!

The brain surgery was necessary for my son! It was a day we all dreaded, but knew it had to be done! It was a cavernous angioma! It was what caused his last 2 strokes! (Only we suspect 3). It had to be cut out! After an enormously LONG day and many Mi's later, the very willed surgeon, Dr. Mina proceeded to remove the culprit vein!

After surgery they moved him to ICU where he spent the night! The nurses didn't want us to stay long, so we left the hospital for the night! We felt that Matt was in good hands. When we were finally able to see him, we found him alert, talking like a chatter box and asking countless questions! I was amazed!!!
The outpouring of love and support astounded me! My son is truly blessed of God! A loving wife, countless friends and faithful prayer partners have all helped to make this difficult season of life more bearable!
Hoping today he will leave the ICU and be moved to his own room! Only time will determine the outcome of his surgery - but I'm hopeful!!!
I will do my utmost to update his progress!
For today I am bursting with gratitude! We do serve an awesome God!!!

I am headed south to South Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with my son Matt and our precious daughter-in-law Jessie. Can't wait to see them! Stopping on the route down to see my daughter Michelle and precious grandchildren! I cannot wait!!!!!

My favorite Aunt fought a good fight battling cancer and went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2011! I will miss her so very much and always will!!!!! I loved her - I always will!

It's been quite a whirlwind of events lately! Late one evening I got a call on my cell phone. I thought - who would be calling me this time of night?! I was stunned when it was my daughter-in-law's mother. She called to say that my son Matt had a stroke and they were taking him to the hospital. Being that he is 5 hours away an in another state - I knew I couldn't leave that night - it was too late - and I can't see well at night...or stay awake for that matter. So after much prayer - and asking others to pray as well....I tried to sleep! Tried - was the key word - because I couldn't sleep much!

Early the next morning - I finished packing my suitcase, (as I was planning on visiting my grandchildren), and headed out to South Carolina. I stopped to pick up my daughter in Sevierville, TN and we both traveled to the hospital to see Matt.

When we arrived, he was in ICU...and we couldn't go and see him right away - as they were working on him. We waiting - and gathered information from Ellen. Soon - we made our way back to ICU where my son was hooked up to a ventilator and in a deep coma to keep him fro seizing and having any more atrial fibrulations. From 8:20 pm the night before until 7:00 am the next day they couldn't stabilize him so they had to intubate him and put him in a drug induced coma.

There sitting by my son's bedside in ICU was his wife Jessie, my daughter Michelle and me. We were only allowed 2 in the room with him - but I think they made an exception for us and even offered another chair so that we could all three sit down. We were the three closest women in my son's life, now sitting beside my lifeless son - and the ventilator breathing for him. We choked back tears while we sat there, eyes fixed upon my son in hopes to see him come around - praying that God would not take my son from us! It's hard to lose a child - I cry at the thought - but to leave my daughter-in-law a widow - I couldn't fathom it!
The next day when we arrived he began to stir some and, although he has no memory of this, opened his eyes slightly. I held his hand and asked, "Do you know me?" He gave a slight nod - and a tear came rolling out from the corner of his eye. It was so hard to hold it together. Next, my daughter held his hand - and before she could ask him if he recognized her - he grabbed for her hand and whispered, "I love you!"

The next hours blended into days - and then over a week later.......Too many stories to recount them all - but after a series of several teams of doctors ALL contradicting the previous teams in diagnoses, etc. an the frustrations of NOT really understanding what was goin on with him - we were able to bring Matt home.

He is doing very well - and astounded his doctor that he is able to talk, walk and function as well as he is. He tires easily - but he is able to do far more than the doctors anticipated. He had had 2 bleeds on the brain - 1 on each side. A cavernous angioma on one side - and a venous angioma on the other. He is another stroke looking for a place to happen!

Through all the prayers - and prayer warriors that prayed unceasingly during this agonizing week-long trauma unfolding - we know that God's hand was upon Matt - and brought him back to us. Praise God! Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ever ask or hope for.

He isn't out of the woods yet - but hopefully soon he will be able to find the appropriate neurosurgeon specialist to perform the delicate lazer surgery that he must do. Meanwhile, we keep praying that God will lead us to the right surgeon - after our nationwide search!

I am so thankful that we still have him!!!!! He is amazing!

God is so good!!!

Absence from the Body is to be present with the Lord....

My father-in-law would have been 94 this coming September 16th. At one time it was his goal to reach 100 years old.....but really - really he wanted to go HOME - to Heaven - that is!

The Memorial Service was so fitting for him - and he would have been so pleased. It was more like a camp-meeting. We laughed, we cried, we sang and we prayed.....the preaching was astounding.....and I think he must have been smiling - because it was so fitting for him.

I know he's in a better place!

More storms in the making.....

It seems as though lately I pray a lot more about the weather than I used to. Is it just me? Or are recent storms worse now than years' past?!
The other night was an eerie storm that came through and appeared to come from no where! Once upon us the sky turned the brightest orange I have ever seen. When the clouds began to spin in a circular motion - we thought for sure we were looking at the beginning of a tornado! Thank goodness - it wasn't!

When it rains.......It pours!

Well....where do I start? Our rental house has been renamed and now known as, "The Money Pit!" FRUSTRATION doesn't come close to explaining our aggravation of one thing after another after another - yet after another of things breaking, needing fixed, more repairs, more money.....phew!

For years the apartment side of the house's airconditioner has given us fits and had to be recharged every summer. This hot season - was no exception.....only the tennant wasn't home and no one noticed that something was terribly wrong with the ceilings.

One day, while the little cousins ran up into the apartment, they returned to report that water was coming down out of the light in the ceiling! Yikes! Well...after investigating - low and behold - the ol' airconditioner's coils rusted up and clogged, causing the drip tray to overflow and down onto the ceiling. (The unit is situated in the attic - and not to our liking - but that's where they installed it when the apartment part of the house was built.)

Unfortunatley, the ceiling in the master bedroom has to be redone - as the drywall tape is falling - and the water stains need Kilz before we repaint.

But then - the guys that were to install a new unit made a mess on the carpets - and we're not sure at this time if they plan to clean up their messes - but I do believe that Steve will suggest that they do. I cannot believe that no one protected the carpet! I don't think rust comes out of white burbour carpet! Grrr!

Ok....THEN....the kicker of all - is the inground pool. If you only knew how much money we have put into this pool to make it "maintenance free" you'd better understand our complete and total aggravation that they pool's water is now a gross green....and the suspect "Mineral Springs Coil" isn't working properly....AGAIN! It was a costly process to convert the pool from chlorene to the Mineral Springs. It was supposed to save money in the long run with chemicals......but in the 2 or so years we've had it - we've had nothing but troubles with it and have had to have constant care over it - and repairs as well - even though it was NEW.

I really think Steve is about to fill in the pool with dirt, plant grass - and call it DONE!

Meanwhile, the house, (which I do miss....but don't see moving back to) is on our minds to sell it to the tenants, who have informed us of their interest if we should decide to sell it. I have to pray about this.....and then I suppose - let it go.

I do miss that house though......so many memories....soo many rooms! Wonderful square foot - and location is so perfectly situated! I love the neighborhood!

Time for R & R...

My feet ached with fury - and all I wanted to go is prop up my feet and take a break from a very loooong weekend!
Even in the sticky hot humidity - it still felt good to kick back and do nothing - but hear the birds singing and tweeting their melodies! It was mezmerizing!

There is nothing greater - than sitting back - and basking in the presence of God - and reflecting in His glory!!! Oh the peace that fills my soul!!!

It's hard to imagine this little baby is nearing the one-year mark. He will officially be 1 year old on June 15th. Where did all the time go???

Although - life has been hectic - we quickly put together a birthday celebration for Micah while they were with us the weekend. Otherwise - we wouldn't have able to for 2 more weeks.

Anyway - I think it was a HUGE HIT - and Micah LOVES his new-found gift! Pictures say it all! :0)

Homeward Bound....and MORE moving days!

Sheesh.....my body is aching from all the moving! I guess in some ways - it's a blessing to have so much to do! Ha ha! The more busy I get - the more potential weight loss! Well?! It works in theory anyway!

I only had a couple days to regroup and get rested, (REST? What is rest???) before my son Josh moved from his duplex this past weekend. He has been working a great distance away from where he lives - and decided to save money on gasoline, (especially with the high and rising prices), and plans to stay with friends while he finishes this one particular job!

We set up a bedroom for he and our grandson Micah to stay on the weekends - so at least we get to see and spend time with them. I'm very excited. But - Josh plans to move into his own place again - in approx. 2 months - just long enough to finish the job he is currently doing.

BUT in order to make room for him - I had to clean out our exercise room - and closet - which was no easy task. It doesn't take long to accumulate a bunch of stuff! Without me realizing it - it became a junk room - mostly the closet - and the HUGE eliptical glider. Thank you to Josh's friends - I wouldn't have been able to move that thing! Yikes! It's been another crazy whirlwind weekend - but Josh has moved out of the duplex and most everything he owns into a storage unit, with partial belongs in a room with us - and a week's long bag of belongings (mainly work clothes) to take with him during the week.

Needless to say - it's been a busy weekend and our bones and muscles ache with fury! I am soo glad to say that it's coming together though....so long you don't look at my garage - that is!

Garage Sale??? To do? Or - NOT to do??? That is the question. Left overs that Josh doesn't want - and my daughter Michelle's bags of unwanted items ..... I guess I'll try to set it up and have one soon.....(but first - I really need a window airconditioner to manage the heat! SHEW! HEAT WAVE!!! At one point I read my thermometer - and it was way over 100!!! (AND this isn't even summer yet!!!). (Yes, it was sitting in the sunshine.....whew!) HOT DAYS!!!!

Awesome Aquarium Exhibit!!!

My daughter wanted me to do something fun - besides working and helping them settle into their new house....so - we ventured to see the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN. She had a homeschool discount so we thought that was perfect!

It was really better than perfect! A bit crowded - but all in all - it was a great exhibit and to walk on moving sidewalks while going under neath the water tank with all the sharks and fish swimming was really cool!
Chloe didn't like it when the sharks swam over her head though!

"Ish" she called them! Soo cute!

When we got to the penguins though we were a little disappointed as the tunnel that led to the bubble for the kids to see the penguins was taken over by adults that camped out and just sat there instead of moving. So the kids weren't able to see them. Later however, we realized that it was feeding time and everyone was crowded in to see them.

They sure are cute little things!

There sure are a lot of strange looking things in the sea!!!

Don't step on this one! This rock is really a very poisonous fish and sharp tenicles filled with venom inject into its prey!

These odd little guys change colors! It's hard to explain - you'll have to go see them as seeing will be believing!

It was a really neat experience - and not nearly enough film to capture every moment and expression and dialogue from my grandchildren!

It was soo much fun! I wanted to do more - but needed to get home - so I will have to make another trip very soon and explore more of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Galtinburg, TN! There sure are a LOT of things to do there!!!

After we left the Aquarium we made - yet another run to Krispy Kreme Donuts. Ya gotta spoil grandchildren....it's in a Grandparent's Job Description! lol!!!

NEXT STOP: Cold Stone Creamery! Oh YUM!!!! It was a mild fortune - but worth every penny! My grandchildren were especially delighted - and the youngest grandchild, Chloe, was no exception!

When we got home that night - we discovered that my daughter's air conditioner had quit! Yikes!!! In 100+ degrees! We ended up getting fans for all the bedrooms! By the next day - it was fixed. Thank goodness!
It was a great trip!!! I want to go back!!! SOON!

The Boat is Sinking....

It was a short-lived adventure for my son-in-law Jay and granchildren! Now that they live on a river - they thought a rubber raft would be great fun - and so they inflated it - and Jay carried it down the steep bank to the river's edge. Unfortunatley, the briars along the steps leading down to the bank punctured the sides of the raft - and although they tried to paddle around, it was soon apparent that they were taking on water and had to take refuge on the shoreline!

Even so - they had a really GREAT time!!! For as long as it lasted!

Krispy Kreme Treat!

One of THE most favorite of my grandchildren - is - yes - Krispy Kreme donuts! I don't blame them - they are sooo good! Being in a little town in Ohio - they weren't able to get them. So to come to a town that has a Kripy Kreme donut shop - they were nothing but giggles the entire way there!

Soon after we arrived, got our donuts.....Chloe piped in! "Eat! Donie".....(for donut)....It was soo cute I had to record it.....but unfortunately cannot upload the video. But the pictures say a lot....needless to say - they were delighted with their treat from Grandma!!!
I love my precious grandchildren! They were havin' a blast!!! I LOVE creating memories!!!

Making Progress

.....it's been a very . . . s l o w . . . process in getting my daughter and family moved into their new rental house! The landlord didn't do as promised - and there are countless bugs, spider eggs, webs, yuk! Not to mention - no mirror in the bathroom, the towel racks are gone...or broken and only one half of the holder is semi-hanging onto the wall! What a mess.....and dirty...dirty...dirty! The landlord didn't clean, didn't paint, didn't clean the carpets.....Didn't do anything he promised. Then of course, there are lots of spiders and a multiple pesty baby praying mantises!

I'm trying to NOT be so cynicle....but I'm a landlord...and I would NEVER rent out a house in this condition!!!

After installing towel racks and other multiple little projects....the house is finally looking like a home!!! Yeah!!!

Final touches today were hopefully successful.....like trying to fix the broken drawer in my daughter's dresser that the moving company busted to smitherines.....that took some doing. Of course, we won't know if it works until the wood glue dries!

The outside has a little more work though - as we discovered poison ivy in the front walkway....and in back by the river bank. I also discovered a huge sink-hole. I am praying the kids never go to investigate or accidently fall into it!

I really don't think they're going to live here very long.....It was just a temporary move to get them into the state of Tennessee and out of the boondocksville of Ohio!

My daughter's new house, (well...new to them - anyway), is being unpacked ever so slowly - one box at a time. My feet ache with fury too! I was so disappointed today when I contacted Craigslist for an advertised cupboard. We thought it would be fairly large - but when it arrived - it was ever so small. I wanted to cry! And so did my daughter.

The builder who built this house - must have been a single guy who never cooked! There are only 2 drawers in the kitchen and one of which cannot open because the stove handle is in the way! There are very few cabinets and not very much room to put anything away! Sadly - they will have to make due until they can find a better place than this.

It's situated on the river, which is very pretty! But very sticky and humid! And loads of bugs! But....for a while I'm sure they will enjoy living there. The master bedroom is HUGE...and so is the living room. It's all open to the kitchen and dining room. However, the 2 other bedrooms are very small - and one doesn't have a closet. Thankfully, they have a wardrobe/dresser to help with the clothes.

it's not a bad little house...but it has very little storage. And what storage it does have - is not situated or easily accessible. The closet in the 3rd bedroom may go as wide as the room - but you can't get to the clothes through the tiny door they installed. It's really crazy!

It's pretty disappointing because their landlord said that he was going to clean it up and paint, but did nothing. There is no mirror in the main bathroom, the towel rod is missing, there are countless holes with make-shift patches, the walls are filthy and spider webs are everywhere! There is a board screwed into the living room wall - and all the screws are stripped - so you can't take it off the wall! The carpet as pet odors, and needs to be cleaned! The air filter was disgustingly gross and pitch black! Yuk! Nothing like destroying your airconditioning and heating unit!
Tomorrow will hopefully be a more productive day.
My grandchildren are so excited about sleeping in their beds in the house for the first time tonight! We got the most of their things unpacked and tried to set up their rooms the best we could. I somehow think that we didn't even make a dent in the boxes though! Ha ha! But one box at a time....and eventually - they will be settled soon enough. Shew!

Meanwhile though....I'm keeping an eye out for a pantry to help with their situation of no storage space!

Moving In Day

Shew! What a day! HOT HOT HOT!!! My car temperature read 114 "HOT" degrees! I am soo thankful that my blower started working again - or I'd be without airconditioning! Thank you Lord!!!

My daughter Michelle and son-in-law Jay had LOTS of snags in moving into their new house. They couldn't get in touch with the landlord - so when they arrived in town - they didn't have a key to the house.
They also discovered that the city wouldn't turn on their water until they saw the lease in person! So...no water! AND it was Memorial Day Weekend - so businesses are closed until Tuesday!

Their was no choice but to stay in a hotel! Which is nice - and thankfully Steve was able to get me a room with points. Remarkably (for a Memorial weekend - and LOTS of travelers - we were able to get rooms and right across the hall from one another! Yeah!

The moving truck arrived this morning and I think after a few hours - my daughter was in near tears. The moving company broke many of their belongings - and then had the nerve to say there is a "deductible" for $500.00. I think NOT! They broke it - they pay for it all!

I've never seen such a lack of care for others' things - but to have a long-distance moving company NOT use a GPS! Crazy! The one guy's attitude was horrible. He was mad that he had to work on Memorial Day Weekend!

Anyway - they need to do a claim for all the pieces broken. The story is lengthy...so I won't go into detail. I think they need to do a claim for sure though!

F.R.U.S.T.R.A.T.I.O.N. DOESN'T SEEM TO COME CLOSE!!!

But....on a lighter side of things.....the hotel's swimming pool was mighty inviting after an extremely HOT day of moving...unpacking what little we could without water......(they didn't clean the house - as they promised!) I think my grandchildren had a GREAT time!!!

Tomorrow....another day.....and more boxes to unpack! Maybe I'll try to get into the girls' room! Shew! Q. Oh where is my hairbrush? A. In a box! Ha ha ha! Just kidding!

Thank you Lord - for another day! I'm praying for a better - more productive day - WITH water!!! :)

Wonderful weekend in Blowing Rock, NC

It was a restful and wonderful weekend with my son Matt and daughter-in-law Jessie. They booked us a room at their favorite Bed and Breakfast in Blowing Rock, NC. the Maple Lodge is a quaint B&B in a quaint little town. Everywhere we went was dog-friendly. I've never seen a place where dogs are such an overwhelming welcome part of the town! The town itself was very accomidating to people, and benches, chairs, tables with umbrellas were scattered everywhere throughout the town, along with paths that led to, yet another, beautiful place to see. Rodedendrons where everywhere - and soo beautiful! Nestled in the Appalatian Mountains - the view was beautiful! I had such a great time! Steve, on the other hand - was very antsy - as work....well...he has a hard time NOT doing! He did however, keep his phone calls to a minimum. lol

There were posted signs in all the restaurants and shops that requested, "No cell phones." So Steve slipped outside. OH well....work is work...and when it rains - you gotta do what you gotta do.

All in all - it was a wonderful weekend. As for the guys though...Matt and Steve had a blast at the dulcimer shop...and are now proud owners of the beautiful instrument! I think I may try to learn it too....it's a lot of fun and quite a remarkable little instrument!

I am so thankful! As we ventured down the many paths - I began to wonder just how beautiful Heaven and its gardens will be. There are some places just soo beautiful here on earth - that it makes you wish time could stand still while you grasp its beauty! Heaven will - no doubt - be breath-takingly beautiful for our eyes to behold! I catch myself wishing Jesus would just take us home.

Our world...and its ways - sadden my heart so much! The craziness of our political world - with a multitude of opinions, the famine in various places, the earthquakes, tornadoes and floods that have devistated such vast areas throughout our world! The wars and rumours of wars....violence seemingly everywhere! The list is endless it seems! The party-world of godless people - who live to have their next drink, or drugs, etc. My heart is enormously heavy! Do they not realize that we will all stand accountable one day before the King of Kings???! What will we say when we stand before the Throne of God - as we will not have an excuse for anything - because there is no excuse - except for plain disobedience and rebellion against God! So many in our world today refuse to accept Jesus as the ONLY way into Heaven's doors! Then there are still so many who attend church religiously - but their hearts are far removed from God and His ways! Even so there are countless lost who talk about Jesus - and use His name - yet fill themselves with beer and wine and hard liquor until they're drunk - and have the ignorance to believe that they will still enter the gates of Heaven! It's those that I pray for - along with so many other things in our world today! I'm praying that God will open their eyes before it's too late!!!

Jesus tells us not to be drunk with wine - but instead be filled with the Holy Spirit! He told us that we can do greater things than He did while on this earth - because it's HE who empowers us to do all things! Sadly, however, many have been taken captive to do the will of Satan - rather than that of God's! Yet, they do not even realize it!

Then there are those who won't give God 5 minutes of their week - or life - and yet somehow fathom that when their lives are ended on earth that they will inherit the Kingdom of God for all eternity! They're so deceived!

We must no longer live as the world does - we MUST live as aliens in this lost and dying world! The Bible tells us not to conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds that we may prove that which is good, acceptable, and perfect will of God! (Romans 12:2).

My son-in-law Jay was a Hospice Chaplain dealing with those who were terminal. He came to the conclusion that even in their old age, KNOWING full well - that they were terminal and dying and at the very end of their lives - the majority were embittered toward the gospel of Jesus and didn't want any part of it. Even though they were told and KNEW that without Jesus - it would be an eternity of torment! They just didn't care! I'll bet they will start caring once they're cast into the outer darkness, where men will weep and knash their teeth.

...For the mind set on the flesh leads to death, (eternal separation from God in a lake of fire, where the thirst is never quenched), but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, (in Heaven.....where the Light IS
God...and peace).

We all make choices! Every single moment of every single day - we have the priviledge of choices! I pray for those who have not yet considered Jesus Christ for their Lord and Savior....believing upon Him for eternal life everlasting!

If you died today? Where will YOU spend eternity???

Choose Jesus......and then find a Bible-believing church - and get into the Word of God! There is refreshing unspeakable that cannot be explained in words. It's awesome! Jesus truly is the answer to every problem! He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life....and NO ONE comes to the Father - except through Him.

Praying for you today!!!

Packing 'em up to move them out!

Whew! It's been a whirlwind of packing up my daughter and family to make the move to Tennessee! I am elated - to say the least. I have prayed for them to move back to Tennessee...and God granted the request! I'm so grateful! So completely thankful that my daughter and grandchildren will only be 45 minutes away!!! Meanwhile....my feet hurt and my muscles are soo sore! But....such progress!!!! The house is nearly packed completely!
I think I'll leave the garage to my son-in-law though! :( I hate spiders......of any kind!!!!

I cannot wait til they're settled into their new house!!!

Glucose levels down today! Woo hoo!

I awoke early this morning to the sound of a very annoying kitty-cat! Grrr! Her alarm clock is NOT favorable! I had forgotten to shut my door...which I won't do again!!! Needless to say - that I could not get back to sleep and decided to start my day earlier! :(

First things first.....check my glucose! This has been the biggest and most challenging battles of my entire life! I am trying hard to stay within the limits of 20 carbs or less for each meal. (At least it's NOT 20 carbs per DAY!!! Totally impossible!!!) I was quite encourage this morning - my glucose reading was 85! Yippeeee!!!!

Now - to start working on the dreaded workout routine.....THAT will take a little more doing!

While searching for my food calorie/carb counter book - I found the Low-Carb Bible! It's a beautiful book filled with wonderful pictures and delectable low-carb recipes! I worked on the zucchini and yellow crooked neck squash with garlic, onion and stewed tomatoes! I can't figure out the carb-content - but it was soo good! I think it needs a little bit of basil.

I'm trying to season without salt. Salt is my 2nd worst enemy. My first - is sugar! NO MORE SUGAR!

If I cannot get my glucose levels under control - the next step is incilin! NO WAY!!! I have to get serious!!!

Worst lab technition ever! And I met her today!!!

I had to go in to the doctor's office this morning for routine lab work. I thought it would be a piece of cake! Easy - peezy! In and out - and back home so I could eat...but more importantly was to have a cup of COFFEE!!!!! This was a fasting lab work. I dislike those - but, at times they're necessary!
As I sat in the little lab room - the nurse proceeded to do her routine and when she went to draw blood - it didn't work....instead I began experiencing the WORST burning pain that I have EVER felt! So...instead of her withdrawing the needle - she plunged it further into my vein - and I could barely contain my tears! Oh my gosh! The hot burning pain pulsated - racing up my arm! Finally - she withdrew the needle - and tried the other arm. Thankfully - it was successful!
I'm not too sure that I want her to do that one again! Good gracious!!! :(
Worst lab experience I've ever gone through and pray I never experience again - EVER!

Rearranging.....AGAIN!!!

Whew....I am soo exhausted! I was soo busy today rearranging my office....yet...again! One day I will get it right! lol...
I had moved my desk - only to realize that the lighting was so bad that I could not see very well - and just couldn't use my desk. Even with a lamp. So - I moved my desks near the window so that I can SEE!!! My eyes just aren't as good as they used to be.
Now to finish hanging a picture, (large picture), and then I need to get even busier! I need to finish rearranging the filing cabinets - clean out the junk - and arrange and organize so I can find everything again!
Whew! What a busy day!!!!

I am going to be soo sore tomorrow!

But at least now - I can see!!! :)

Today is the day that the Lord has made....I will rejoice and be glad in it!!!

Mother's Day was soo nice!

I am so thankful for my children! Everyone of them remembered me in special ways - and it made my heart warm and fuzzy! I miss them so badly! It's not easy when they all grow up and move away! I don't get to see them or talk to them much. Most times - I feel if I do call too much - they think of it as an intrusion. In that respect - I tend to feel them pushing away and closing me off from their lives.

But enough of that....

My son Josh spent the night - and we stayed up playing spades. Later - Josh brought out his extra Wii hand controls - and Chris got the Tiger Woods Golf - so we played miniature golf. We had such a great time!
Steve won! Bummer....I came in last.....but then again - I didn't quite know how to use the controls.....ha ha!

Yesterday morning - we were running late, and so we ended up going to another church in Whitehouse - which is a lot closer to us! It's not LongHollow - but it's still a nice church! We met up with some wonderful friends, Lori and Darren Melching. I just love them! They are really sweet people!

In the morning before we left for church - I turned the oven on at 250 degrees and placed in the cut up vegetables that I prepared the night before. Also added to the mix was russett baked potatoes and sweet potatoes - nicely wrapped in foil. By the time we got home from church - the veggies were all cooked - and all that remained was firing up the BBQ'er. YUM! What an awesome lunch! What an awesome fellowship with my children! I enjoyed my time so much.

They remembered me! My daughter Michelle left me a message on facebook, my son Matt text messaged me....(welcome to the new age of life...no one actually TALKS to you anymore!) But anyway - it was nice to hear something.

My son Matt and Jessie sent a goody package with a new apron, (desperately needed - I may add), and 2 beautifully fluted yellow coffee cups. I love them! Along with a new rubber spatula! All from Williams Sonoma - which is always wrapped so nicely!!! Thank you Matt and Jessie for your thoughfulness.

Chris and Josh went in together to get me a HUGE designer clock. It's really pretty! I'll take pictures soon.
Also a card that said the sweetest things! It made me want to cry!!!

My daughter said the package from her and my son-in-law Jay was on it's way.....but I still have not received it. Oh well....I'm looking forward to the surprise! All in all - it was a nice day!

I did though - miss my mother. I always will. I cannot believe that it will be 5 years this May 25th since she died.

I did call my first mother-in-law Betty. She wasn't feeling very well. I sure miss her! She was the one who taught me to cook! And how to gracefully prepare a feast!

Steve's mom died a few years ago too - so I'm sure that he was forelorn - only never said a word. I guess guys don't.

Anyway......Happy Mom's day for all the moms out there! Cherish EVERY moment as if it's your last - and be busy about creating precious memories! As the memories are the only thing you will be left with.....and what you'll cherish the most.

It's been a long day - that actually started at 3:00 a.m. - (thanks to Sadie who thinks she needs her kitty food at that time! Argh!

Micah couldn't go to daycare due to his ear infection and pink eye. Poor little fella! So I drove into town and stayed with him all day. He's sooo cute!
As I was sitting there holding him - he busted out giggling! Ha ha! I have no idea what he thought was so amusing! So cute he is! Wow! He's getting HUGE! He will be one year old in June - I cannot believe that much time has gone by since he was born.

It's hard to know how to feel with the news that Osama bin Laden is dead! In some ways - I want to cry...tears of the memory of 9-11 and all those lost by the acts of this terrorist.

Sad for a lost and heartless soul that will spend an eternity in the fires of Hell, where men will weep and gnash their teeth in torment. I suppose it's justice for someone so heartless.

It's so hard for me to realize that in our world we have people who have no conscience or thought toward others. Just sheer hate that resonates from their demented mind!

The Royal Wedding Day

I have to admit that I LOVE a good Cinderella story...and Catherine Middleton and Prince William - are definately a really GREAT real-life Cinderella story! I awoke early with such excitement! Although I set my DVR to record the Wedding of the Century - I couldn't wait to see it!

Kate Middleton - now Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge - and now happily married to Prince William, an heir to the Throne of England. The bride was radiant and stunningly flawless! It was a beautiful wedding that I will never forget!

Prince William - now His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge - along with several other titles could not contain his joy! It was priceless!

There will be a LOT of celebrations today!

My grandchildren, also enjoyed the Royal Wedding...and have role-played the wedding all day long since seeing it. It's so precious!

What makes this day so spectacular - is that they truly and genuinly look extremely happy - and very much in love with one another!

I loved the ceremony.....I loved the joy! I loved her dress! And I loved their - not one - but TWO kisses on the balcony!

Congratulations to the World's Most Beautiful Couple!

May God bless them always!!!
And may they keep Jesus Christ as head of their home and marriage always!

Yesterday was Easter Resurrection Sunday! We actually attended church service on the Saturday night before which was very nice. I think I really like Saturdays due to less traffic and more parking.

Either way though - I love the pastor and sermons and service and praise and worship at Long Hollow Baptist. I hope you get a chance to watch an archived sermon and the segment of, "Minute to Win It".

I cooked a nice Easter dinner yesterday. A healthy choice - and much easier to cook and put together than our regular meals...(which we can't eat anymore!).
Our son Josh and grandson Micah came for the weekend! It was so nice to be able to spend time with them - and finally see our grandson Micah! It makes my heart sad that he hasn't really known us as grandparents! But Josh plans to come out to the country more so we can see this little fella!!! I love our country view - but I do miss being closer into town!!!

Praying still for Josh and Danielle, who are presently separated! I am not sure that they can work through their issues - but we'll just keep praying that they can! It's not entirely impossible - but the issues seem unsurmountable for now!

All in all - we had a very pleasant and relaxing Easter.
I'm so thankful for our Savior Jesus....who paid a debt he did not owe.....for our sins - for which we could not pay!
Praise be to God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who was, who is, and who is to come!

We ended up going to church on early Saturday evening. It was different - but nice to find parking places! Sundays are a bit difficult - but doable - just not as easy as Saturdays.
I think Long Hollow Baptist has one of THE most VERY BEST drama teams EVER! They come up with the most fantastic visuals to interrelate to the sermon!
Saturday's sermon was about Noah, the ark, the animals....and ultimately....the FLOOD!

People were eating and drinking and carrying on during the days of Noah. No one but Noah and his family were found to be righteous! And God graciously spared them...and 2 of every species of birds and animals.
I cannot imagine getting that all accomplished, but God - no doubt - gave Noah the ability.

When the lights all went out and it was pitch black darkness in the sanctuary......all that was heard was a thunderstorm and rain!
                          ..................................And God shut them in!
Soon...it was apparent - that there was knocking...and clamour! I never really thought about those outside of the boat Noah built. I'm sure they were pounding with fierce intensity and weeping and wailing as they realized that Noah was telling the truth all along. All of their jeers and mockery.....faded into a battle to save themselves from the "flood" - but it was too late.

The sermon was so good....but then it always is. The pastor at Long Hollow Baptist is one mighty mouthpiece for the Lord our God!
                                       The question is: ARE YOU IN THE BOAT?
Because if you're not - you need to be! Jesus Christ IS coming SOON! And if we are not found IN CHRIST....we will surely be left behind.

The birth pangs have begun......our end of the end of the end days are upon us.....

We must get right with God.....or we WILL be left behind to endure the tumultuous tribulation period.
                           I don't want to be here! And neither to you!

I love Springtime....and even more so - the view behind our house!
It's so peaceful...and I have countless pictures of it....not to mention all the sunsets too!
The other morning was a crisp and cool misty morning. All was still and quiet with barely a few birds beginning their melodic melodies. The dew was thick on the ground - and every blade of grass was damp from the previous evening's rain. I stood there - feeling as though time was standing still For a moment - no problems echoed the airwaves - as I kept the television off and didn't bother with a radio.

I wanted to etch the view in my memory........God's majesty unfolding the canvas....all for my enjoyment!

I'm so thankful!

Well it was quite a whirlwind week pack-filled with all kinds of things on our agenda to do while my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren visited.
We toured the Octagon Hall Civil War Museum, (http://www.franklinky.info/attraction_detail.php?ID=10)

We went fishing in the pond behind our home, (2nd favorite for the girls - but 1st favorvite for Ben - as he caught a fish!!! Yeah Ben!), .......
but best of all.....which I think all my grandchildren will account for and agree...
...is....

TEA PARTY!!!

Soon after they packed up headed 'em up and moved 'em out!

But worst of all was their dog Bunny! She thought it was a fun game to run when we tried to get her. Seemed as though - she LOVED all the fields she could jump and run in - and most intriguing was that killdeer bird's nest! Luckily mother bird did her famous faking a broken wing act and Bunny chased the bird away from the nest!

FINALLY!!! I ran around the house - from front to back and chased her in toward the house.....Michelle nearly had her - but she escaped - yet again! But luckily she ran onto the porch where we trapped her. She escaped through grandson Ben's legs and Michelle finally captured her hiding in the house! Bad bunny!!!! Bad dog!!!

Oh well...we'll chalk that up to - yet another memory-making moment!

The Tea party adventure was a success! Nothing like 100% sugar for breakfast. Oh well...they didn't mind the cookies, (3 different kinds), Easter malted milk ball eggs, gummies, peanuts, a plate of apples and bananas...but most importantly, the specialty sugar with a pitcher of creamer for their tea! I used all my china and dimitass cups.
They LOVED IT! :)

Their conversation was of proper ettiquette in an English tone....went something like this:

"Shall we have a spot of tea?"

"Lovely, simply lovely"

"Yes, thank you, a spot of tea would be most appreciated"

"How are your children doing?" "Are they still alive?"
(Oh my gosh...I had to hold my laughter!!!)

I LOVED their dialect! It blessed my heart to no end!!!

I LOVE creating memories!

Hopefully they will remember this tea party for the rest of their lives! I know I will!!!

I miss them all already!!!

March 24th ......was my Mother's Birthday...

Today I'm feeling a tad blue.....March 24th - today would have been my mother's 74th birthday.

My dad said he was bringing flowers down to her gravesight. It makes me wish I were there! Sadly, the cemetery rules are that no silk flowers after March 31st. I have got to remember to send a new saddle for her headstone on March 1st. At least that way she'd have flowers for an entire month. I LOVE Old time Pottery's Memorial Saddles and arrangements!

Although I still miss her - I KNOW that I will see her again one day. I pray for those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Without Him - there will be no Heaven-bound destination. Sometimes I think the sun that burns with firey fire is Hell. But who know? I hope I never find out!

We have an odd little bird! A killdeer!!!

While doing yard work the other day - Steve stumbled across a nest with 4 eggs in it. The odd part was that the nest was in the grass behind our house - not in a tree. After posting pictures - a friend found the type of bird we had.
A killdeer! After doing a google search on the type of bird - and finding some videos on youtube - I began to laugh! Only because - they DO pretend to be hurt so that you will follow them - and in the process they try to lure you away from their nest.

I can't wait until the eggs hatch! Now....to find my zoom lense! I need to get some pictures of this little soon-to-be family!
I had no idea of their habits....but they are quite a comical little bird - but very devoted to their young. While the mother roosts by day - the male will roost at night. I sure hope the turtles from the ponds out back don't come to eat the eggs before they're hatched!

Good morning Spring Time....Where have you Been???

The first day of Spring......I LOVE IT!!!!!
I love the flowers blooming...the yellow forcythias, the white pear trees....the cherry pinks....
I LOVE this time of year!
I awoke to the full moon still peering boldly in the sky...not a cloud in sight. The wind was blowing gently - and the birds were already busy chirping their morning gala!
My new kitty Sadie was already busying herself with eating, (her first and foremost agenda of her life!) Ha ha!
I placed the springtime flowers in my mailbox planter already this morning.....I've been meaning to do it for a LONG TIME!....At last now - the potting soil isn't frozen!
I LOVE this time of year! I love the birds, the flowers blooming.....daffodils are everywhere! Even the willow tree we planted is starting to leaf out and our cherry tree has small pink blossoms on it.
I really wished I had more flowering trees.......I will eventually - I guess!
Okay...time to work out! My new regime in trying to get a grip on a more healthy life-style!
My glucose levels are wacky! And feeling bad after I eat...and sometimes - even beforehand is NOT favorable! Eating healthy...and exercise MUST be a part of my life!
................So off I go.

The pastor at Long Hollow Baptist Church wasn't at church today - and instead a guest speaker from Lifeway Christian Resources spoke. He was a great speaker....funny...and captivated the congregation!

But then again...there are times when I use the gifts God has given me when I make food for the family for a funeral...or clean someone's house that needs help....or move family, etc. when they need it.

Also got to see my son Josh and grandson Micah. WOW! He's growing up soo big!!! I miss him! but he can't come to my house - because I have a cat...which makes me want to LOSE the cat!!! Poor Micah - he is so allergic!!! Poor baby!!!

Later.....we drove home - and Steve flew off to Chattanooga. Sure hope he doesn't realize that he needs his clothes! He didn't pack....just went to see how the progress in a store job is going.... and then coming right back. I really suspect that he was itching for a reason to fly somewhere. It was a perfect day for it! AND...Sergio called - so he jumped at the chance...
He's definately "caught" the bug....the flying bug - that is!!!

It is nearly impossible to watch a good movie! Most of the movies coming out of Hollywood these days are filled with dispicable language, taking the Lord God's name in vain, and filthy pornographic type scenes filled with tremendous immorality!

Prayers for those caught up in the devistation in Japan from the earthquake and tsunami are definately needed. Countless lives were lost - and many still have yet to be found. I'm praying for Japan....and also praying for all the loss for those in Haiti...who are STILL in shambles from an earthquake, also in Chili......and in Australia....the list is endless!

But all across our world - terrorism....wars... and rumors of wars...earthquakes in various places!

These are the beginning of birthpangs - but see to it that we do not become alarmed...as the END is not yet!

Matthew 24.....Jesus explains to the disciples the signs of the times...and the end of the age.

I look to the Heavens.....so see Jesus coming to take his children HOME! It's soo close...so very close! I HOPE YOU ARE READY!

A Solemn....Rainy Day...

Today is a difficult day for many people...as today is the day that long-time ago acquaintances and friends attend the funeral service of Marilyn Adkinson.....beloved wife, grandmother, great-grandmother....friend. She will always remain in the thoughts of many as a caring and loving person. I'm so thankful that she knew Jesus as her Savior....and now resides in a Heavenly Mansion!

There will come a day of rejoicing when we ALL come together once again at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb!
I pray...that if YOU....do not know Jesus....you'll stop what you're doing right now - and ask Him to be Lord of your life......and be certain that your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life!

My heat is heavy for my friends.....but it's mixed with a multitude of emotions...as I KNOW that I KNOW......although Marilyn isn't here with us in bodily form.....her spirit lives on and is now in the presence of the Almighty God of Heaven. In that - there is a great peace!

Lord....grant my friends and those who knew Marilyn comfort...and a peace that passes all understanding! I pray they will feel God's presence surrounding them!

Thankfully - he is HOME! And all the tests revealed NOTHING! Yeah!!!

He did give us a scare - but God showed up!!!!!

...When it rains...it POURS!!!!!

Yesterday took me by surprised and was completely unexpected.....

I called my dad after his doctor's appointment yesterday and learned that the doctor ordered an amubulance that transported him from the Drs. office straight to the hospital where he was admitted for tests.

I was concerned after I had talked to my dad the night before last when he told me that he was having a pretty rough time! I only assumed it was an infection or something requiring simple things - like an antibiotic....

I'm so very grateful and thankful for his friend James - who insisted that he go and took it upon himself to drive him there personally. It is so hard to live so far away from him!!!

I will know more today....but they thought possibly that he had had a heart attack...or a possible blockage of some kind. Meanwhile though, the waiting game is difficult.

Hopefully we will know more today....

My brother-in-law Charley Crispin was buried today....

My heart is heavy today...for the Crispin and Wilson families as they gather today in Crawfordsville, Indiana to bury my brother-in-law Chuck (Charley) Crispin.

He was 77 years old. I knew he was having a hard time. He had cancer of the blood - which subsequently attacked the muscles in his legs causing his inability to walk any longer. He suffered! He is now - hopefully - in peace and at HOME with the Lord in Heaven! At least that is what I pray! I didn't realize he was so close to dying...

Sadly however, I didn't know his beliefs - or if he had faith in Jesus.

I do pray that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior! Because then I would know that at the very moment he took his last breath on earth - he took his new breath of life eternally in the presence of God! I know that we are all appointed by God....once to die! We never know really when that day will be....which is all the more reason we need to live each day as if it is our last.

Why gamble on your eternal fate?????

We ALL live forever! But our decision to accept Christ or reject him will determine our eternal destination!

Despite what some may believe, however, just being a "good person" doesn't get you into Heaven's door! The ONLY way into the gates of Heaven is through Jesus Christ, the Son of God! And unless we come like children - we will never enter the Kingdom.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but by me." John 14:6

The scriptures teach us that there is none righteous - not even one - we have all fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 3:10 In simple terms: There is NOTHING we can do to EARN our way in!!! It's not a merit system.....It's an unconditional and undeserving....... LOVE !!! God's love....that cannot be expressed or explained in human terms!

...............at times I find myself in wonderment...............

We do serve a compassionate God....slow to anger - abounding in love, where the first will be last - and the last first. It's God's desire that none perish - but all come to the saving knowledge of Jesus. I hope Charley is reuniting with those gone before.....through Heaven's door....where there is an inexpressible peace that passes all understanding...where God IS the light! No more pain, no more suffering.....sometimes I can almost hear that heavenly choir!!!

Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God; trust also in me.

In my Father's house are many rooms;

if it were not so, I would have told you.

I am going there to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you,

I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

I pray for my sister-in-law Doris.....she lost and buried her husband today. I'm not quite sure how many years they've been married - but quite a few. It's hard not to think that she will follow soon - as her health isn't good, and her demensia is rapidly more pronounced. She cannot manage well to take care of herself - and I suspect there will be a family meeting today to discuss what they need to do to care for her.

That's one thing I highly commend my husband's family about.....they DO take care of their family members!!! They always have! God bless them!!!

....basking in God's presence.....there is no greater place I'd rather be! How He calms my heart and stores my tears! I truly believe that Crystal Lake....is comprised of all our tears! I know I'll see it one day - when God finally calls me home!

I really need Him today! (GOD - that is!) My heart is weary and tired! Lots of stress....lots of troubles....lots of losses.... LOTS of them!

Some days are better than others! It's not like I wake up one morning and decide "Oh - hey, I'm going to feel bad today!" It just happens! Sometimes it comes upon you suddenly from a bad experience, etc. But at other times - the depression sets in like nothing else! Almost like a heavy cloud that sits upon you and lasts for what seem like an eternity...... Hope diminishes - and laughter disappears from your life becoming a foreign entity. All too often - those that get caught in it's snare start believing that death would relieve the pain!

Let me assure you ......

DEATH DOES NOT REMOVE THE PAIN!

And those that take the necesssary steps to end their lives - only wake up to an ETERNITY

WITHOUT HOPE

WITHOUT ESCAPE

and seal their fate FOREVER!

Then there IS NO ESCAPE!

Only Jesus Christ - can heal your pain and sadness.

And without Him....we have NO HOPE of an eternity in Heaven!

I say this in sadness - as so many, young and old alike, have been taken captive by Satan's deceptive schemes and took their lives! Those loved ones remaining - are left to bear an unbearable pain that I cannot begin to understand! It aches in the thought...I cannot imagine the reality of it.

So in a nutshell....if you think ending your life is the answer??? ...

PLEASE KNOW that it's NOT!!!

I am convinced however.....that despite our "FEELINGS" and emotions are concerned - we cannot live by what we FEEL! We MUST live by the TRUTH of the WORD of God.

I do understand however, that when your feelings run amuck...and life seems to be crashing down around you - one of the last things you want to do is read the Bible! The answers just don't come quick enough....and all you can think about is ending the pain! I suppose that's WHY it's so important that we KNOW the Word......beforehand! As it's in the Word - that we find the answers to help us cope with our trials!

Thy Word I have hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.....Psalm 119:11

The Bible tells us that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked!

There are times when our minds will think all sorts of irrational thoughts!

A war breaks out in our conscience......
A battle! - NO DOUBT of good vs evil...and everything in between!

Can we trust ourselves???

NO!

Not always!!!

The outcomes of our belief system....our perspectives.....

OUR - MIND OVER MATTER

will outweigh all common sense - rantional or irrational.

The battle wages war within ourselves...and we become our own worst critic!

The ONLY thing that we can be truly certain of is - the love of God!!!

The TRUTH will set you free...and if the Son sets you free - you will be free indeed.

...Days when I feel like throwing in the towel because I don't think I can manage the battle any longer.....somehow Christ steps in....and by the power of the Holy Spirit...and through other brothers and sisters in Christ - help to encourage, to strengthen....and embrace one another!

Are we not to bear one another's burdens? YES!

We are also to spur one another to love and good deeds!

Encourage one another by the Word!
Forgetting NOT the assembly of one another - and even more as we see the day
of Christ Jesus approaching!
AND
Jesus is coming soon!!!
I pray you're prayed up and ready!

How we need our brothers and sisters in the Lord! Especially in these last days!
It doesn't matter if you've known each other for umpteen years, used to attend church together - or never met before! We share the same Lord, the same Word of God that we study and LOVE....we are family - a family that will live together forever eternally.
FOREVER!
ETERNALLY!
Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord....
We become THE FAMILY OF GOD!!!
Heirs to the Throne of Grace....

Have we resisted temptations to the point of shedding droplets of blood? Doubtful.

Christ prayed that the Father would take this cup from Him....yet God didn't.

Jesus submitted and became obedient unto death on the cross -
that we....me - a hopeless and sinful person.....

may have the free gift of salvation...and eternity with God the Father.

Thank you Jesus.

I am so undeserving!

WHEN....I am so down - and I began to think only of the calamities of my life, along with all the mistakes, stupid choices, regrets..........etc. (And I will assure you - that I have made terrible choices, bad decisions, enmeshed in tremendous sin........Lord forgive me......AND - He did - when he died on the cross for me!)
IT'S THEN......

That I MUST look around to see the simple things in life....that really when you think about it - isn't all that simple. The colors, the trees, the wind...the roof over my head, the birds that sing....the list is endless when reflecting in the glory of God! Even in the thought of how many VARIETIES are there in just the OAK leaf??? Soo very many!

He counts the hairs on your head! He stores our tears in a bottle! He cares....about every detail in our lives! EVERY DETAIL!

Lord - help us in these uncertain times........Help us to draw closer to hear - and listen to your voice - tell us which way to walk - and then help us, give us courage - to walk in it!

Pour your spirit across this earth....the days are so evil! Sadly - far too many have chosen rebellion....and have chosen a life without you....sealing their eternal doom in the Lake of Fire!

Draw their hearts to you! Before it's too LATE!

My heart feels heavy today. There are countless people that are going through some very difficult things.
A long-tim ago friend, Glenda Smith's funeral yesterday, a friend from our old Sunday School class, Therecia Lilly's husband - Harold Lilly's funeral today, and my brother-in-law Charley Crispin's funeral on Saturday in Indiana. Marilyn Adkinson, (another old timey friend from church longest ago) is in the hospital and has cancerous tumors, her back is broken, she's in lots of pain and now her kidneys are shutting down. Soo sad! So very sad! It's so hard getting old....it's so hard losing loved ones!

Today also marks the day my son-in-law will interview for a Hospice Chaplain job in Cincinnatti, OH. I hope he gets it...but more than that - I pray for God's will in their lives!

Also today - my son Matt has to give his answer in regards to his interest in going forward with a Management program that will last 2 years, his company will pay for it - and he'll get a Master's Degree to boot! Woo hoo! He would have to do four 6 month internships that would take him to different states and cities. I guess that's the hesitancy! Lots to pray for. I want God's will in their lives too!

A Beautiful Tribute....for an awesome woman!

Today was more of a somber day! One in which I dreaded - but felt that it was so important that I said my good-byes to a long-time ago friend Glenda Smith. She helped soo many people and was in intricate part of countless lives! I can still hear her giggle and laugh...... She loved Jesus.....and I have no doubt that she is there in the heavenlies in the presence of God having the time of her life! I know she will be missed - as there was only one Glenda, and the mold was broken when God made her!

Her funeral service was so beautiful. Rob Howard played and sang the praise and worship music...and those there sang along. Glenda would have loved that! She always loved Rob and his music. He spoke in what I believe to be the most touching tributes I have ever heard. We laughed....we cried....we stepped back in time in reminiscense! Glenda would have been soo tickled!

Many of "The Ramblers" were there. (A group of women that were close bonded friends that attended church together). Well...what is left of them anyway. It seems our gatherings now are funerals lately.
It's so hard getting old.....watching one by one slip from this world into the eternal - forever - no 2nd chances HOME!

Glenda died on the same day as my brother-in-law Charley. His service will be Saturday.
And tomorrow I have another funeral to attend - the husband of a woman in our old Sunday School class had a heart attack and died yesterday....Such a hard week!

My thoughts are eternal destiny! Just what do I want my epitaph to say? What do I want my life to mean?
Have I accomplished all that God created me to do? Some how - I feel like - not nearly enough....not even close!

Meet Sadie....Our new Furry Friend...

Yes! I had a weak moment....and have been longing for my deceased furry friend! I do miss Snickers....but I can't bring her back! I miss a multitude of things.....but mostly to pet her soft fur. So - I've been looking for a replacement. It won't be the same - but a little furry friend is nice to have around.

So...in walks Sadie. Actually - we looked online on the Internet for a while - and then visited local animal shelters. We settled for a very clean and very health-conscious Hendersonville Humane Shelter.

All new animals are isolated - and then checked out with a vet, tested for any disease - and fixed before being ready for adoption. She's a sweet little thing, (but scared of her environment!). I would be too if I was stuck in a cage for strangers to walk by me every day and see dogs and all sorts of things all day long! She is a little tabby with white on her. She was born in a barn and a little nervous at first around humans! But she has purred non-stop since bringing her home....and is slowly coming around and warming up to us.

She's so funny...and so far - we think she may be a kindred furry friend for a long time to come! She's definately got a strong motor that purrs away at the slightest of things! She cracks us up too - and when she finally came to the livingroom - took a running slide acrossed our hardwood floors and smacked into the wall - then JUMPED! She also spooked herself when she jumped into the wall length mirror trying to get the kitty in the mirror! Ha ha! I had to laugh at her innocense. She's pretty comical for a kitten! She even extends her paws in peaceful contentment on the hardwood floors. Yep - I think she is quite happy!

In Memory of Snickers...

It's a sad day today. I awoke and my eyes were already watering! I knew what had to be done - and I didn't want her to struggle any more. She was declining more and more by the hour. For the life of me - I don't even know how she stayed alive as long as she did!

She did manage to jump off my bed and I found her in my closet. I think she wanted a private place to die. I am soo glad it wasn't under my bed!

We tried to bring her icecream....her favorite! And feed her with our fingers, but she turned her nose and wouldn't have anything to do with us.

As I put her in her carrier to take her to the vet - she growled at me! I think she knew it was the end!

It was a simple procedure. The people there was so sympathetic.
They brought me a bottle of water and tissues! I prayed for the Lord to give me strength....so I wouldn't fall all apart! Shew! Tough day for sure!

The first injection was the anesthesia to put her to sleep! She just got really sleepy! But by this time - she was very weak...and her heart barely beat....along with her breathing. Poor Snick. I rocked and cradled her like a baby!

When the vet came in about 5 or so minutes after the first injection she was pretty much out of it. He then inserted the last injection - and within 2 seconds - she was gone. Very painless.....at least for her.

I wrapped her up in the soft blanket that I had just for her, and put her in the box that I buried her in.

When I got home - I proceeded to finish the outer wrapping and taped up all the sides.

Soon after the guy at the Garden Center came over and began to dig the hole for the tree I was going to plant. I think Snick would have like sitting under that weeping willow....I can almost see her now.

Before we knew it - the hole was dug, the tree was planted - and Snick was now beneath the ground. My heart hurts today.....I have a sad loneliness....that my buddy isn't here. I almost started talking to her - like I always do.....but she's no longer here!

Within a few moments of Tommy leaving - it began to snow very very hard! BEAUTIFULLY LARGE flakes of snow and it's still snowing and covering the ground in record speed! It's so beautiful!

Now the remant reminders of Snick still lingers....and I'm still in the process of washing, cleaning and packing up.

Poor Snickers! My poor Snickers. I will miss her very much! She comforted me at night - and was my bed buddy - all snuggled up against me....and at my feet! I wonder how long it will take for me to stop reaching for her - only to realize that she is no longer here.

Sleep Snick.....I told her she was taking a long winter's nap ....

Someone posted that they had talked to their failing feline friend....about crossing the Rainbow Bridge found at the end of Butterfly Lane.
Aww...what a sweet sentiment....I just wish it were as simple! I do long for Heaven to hold our precious furry friends! I guess one day - we'll all know.......the day when God calls us home. Til then though - I'll just wonder. But I'm not optimistic.

I talked to the vet and after hours fees are considerably higher in cost than the normal fees charged. I would have done anything this morning - as Snickers was struggling ferociously to breathe. It broke my heart. But she has settle down some - and although she is shallow in her breathing - she continues to purr like a motor boat. So I have decided to postpone her fate....and she will live one more day.

In some ways I feel like such a villian...in other ways though - I feel like I'm being merciful. I don't want her to struggle as she takes her last breath!

I have never sat on a death watch vigil for a cat before - and it's just not easy seeing my 16 year furry friend slowly decline. I've tried for days to get her take some water....or liquid the liquid from her packaged food, but she turns her back on me every time.

Tomorrow the nursery/landscape company is coming to dig a hole for the tree...and then I will take Snick in to the vet....so she can gently go to sleep without effort! My precious Snick. Really my snobby Snick - that would pop and snap at my grandchildren. She was a STINKER! Obstinate! Hard to get along with! Such a snob - as she wouldn't come to you very well. But she was my buddy - and slept with me...and kept me company. (I usually had to watch where I walked because she was in the same room wherever I was - and a lot of times - right under my feet! Sometimes I would nearly step on her - and DID on occassions!) She LOVED her Snick-snacks - so we called them. But now - today - she won't touch a thing - and hasn't eaten in a week. I tried....even with a syringe - but it was futile to attempt it....so I gave up!

I tried to offer her some water with my finger tip ...and even a plate.....and then with a medicine bottle cap....but she turns away... She doesn't want anything. I guess that's nature...when an animals knows its dying. I think she knows...and her body is shutting down.

Snickers worsens...

I regret my decision to keep Snick alive for a few more days. I should have put her down the day I took her to the Animal Hospital. It's agonizing to see my poor kitty die slowly....and she is declining little by little. However, she has purred non-stop. The vet said that she is telling me that she is content with her environment.

But I see her slowly slipping away. She doesn't get up and walk around anymore...she just lays there....sleeping mostly - but purring.

It scared me last night - because I thought she had died. I didn't feel her breathing right away.

If she manages to live until Monday - I have no choice but to take her to the vet again - and have him put her down. I feel so bad! She doesn't appear to be suffering really - especially with her purring.

I tried to force her to eat with a syringe. The vet gave me this thick brown gel filled with nutrients for cats and so I tried - but she gagged and fought with me. She even growled at me - and she NEVER growls at me. So I won't try again. I read an article that said not to force them to eat - as it's the animal's natural way of the body to shut down. Meanwhile though - I pray for Monday to hurry and come. I don't want her to suffer. What was I thinking??? I could have saved a lot of money too - in the process. In any case, I have to say that this is a first....to sit on death watch for a cat. This is angonizing!

I am out of space....which I didn't even realize that there was a capasity for blogs. However, in the next few weeks...I'll be redoing my blog and eliminating pictures and blog entries....til then though....there won't be any more posts....Or pictures anyway!

Sad News Today......

I took my cat to the veterinarian today. She's not herself and stopped eating. But also stopped using the potty...and acting funny. Acting like she can't breathe, she gets sick a lot lately. So I took her to see the vet to find out why.

From their records - she had breast cancer...and had massive masectomy to remove it 2 years ago and has done very well since then.

But the xrays today showed that she is developing fluid in her lungs. They think that it's from another tumor of some sort - and that she needs to be put down.

As sad as it is - I know they are right.

I would have done it today - but my son Chris wouldn't be able to say goodbye.....

So meanwhile.....she has a few more days with us. the vet drained the fluid from her lungs. I felt bad - as I heard her screaming! :(

It's so hard to lose a family member. She's been a part of our lives for over 16 years! It will be so strange not having her here anymore.

Sad day.....Poor Snickers!

Au Revoir Barbre Family

It was a long pain-staking decision - but my friend Joni, her husband Eugene, and daughter Krystle decided to call it quits here in Tennessee. Eugene had a hard time finding work here and ended up having more work in Illinois - than here in Tennessee. They endured the long spurts of time that separated them - and finally decided to pack it up and move - lock, stock and barrel. Illinois-bound to be closer to their son, his new wife, and all their grandchildren. They were so excited! Now they can finally be together!
Saturday was the " BIG" moving day....and the last day that I had a chance to meet with them before they left.....
It didn't take long! They had several people that came down - including Joni's dad, her cousin and even the pastor-friend from their church in Illinois...3 pick up trucks, 2 trailers and 4 hours later..we said our good-byes...and off they went. WOW! It's hard to believe they're gone already!!!

Matt finds the WiiOn the Eve of New Year's Eve, my son Matthew and his lovely wife Jessie came to celebrate Christmas with us. We had a blast just hanging out! But on New Year's Eve we didn't stay put - rather we ventured to Cool Springs area to clean and repair Jessie's wedding rings at The Shane Company. We visited the Cool Springs Galleria Mall while waiting - and then on to Gaylord Opryland Hotel to see the lights, and the show ICE. It was awesome!

The following night we played Monopoly and Risk til midnight! Blaaa! I am NOT a night owl!!!

I really enjoyed their visit!!!

Lunch at Five Chefs was disappointing.....as they sat us on the patio area away from the environment. Oh well....at least we toured the store located on the premises.

Wow! What a spectacular display of 2 million tons of ice! We toured the ICE display at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center! They handed us artic jackets as we entered the ice display of Santa's Workshop. How awesome! But totally FREEZING - in 9 degrees! I wish I had brought my gloves - for sure!

Happy Birthday dear Bekah.....Happy birthday to you! Yesterday......December 28th - my precious grand daughter happily turned "doubled digits" (as she puts it!!!). Wow...where did all the time go???

From our Skype call yesterday - and her squeals when she opened her gift from us - I think she just may have really like her new violin!!!! :)

I hope so!!!

Christmas came and went...and this morning - it's STILL softly snowing!

The first time Nashville and surrounding areas have had snow on Christmas in 17, (SEVENTEEN) years!!! We had a white Christmas - and the snow hasn't stopped since. It's cold...but soo snooooow beautiful!!!

It was a nice Christmas...small really! I miss my children and their families...but I guess that's to be expected when they all grow up, move out, get married and start having families of their own! Still though...it makes my heart long for the day that we can ALL be together again! I miss the singing, the laughter, the smiles and hugs....I just miss all being together under one roof. It's been so many years now - that I cannot recount them.

I had to laugh when this year - Steve and I got each other - not 1 - not 2 - but 3 - THREE of the SAME gifts! Aaahhhh! Ha ha ha!!! Only he got the better brands - so we returned mine - and kept his.
Being that I think we do this about ever year - we need to talk about - and agree what we are going to get and go get it TOGETHER! ha ha!

Christmas dinner was nice. I couldn't sleep - and so started cooking at 5:00 a.m. and didn't finish up until around 2:00 pm Life is so quiet now that it's just Steve, Chris and myself. But we had a lazy day - and just enjoyed the snow, the movies we watched - and all the goodies. (Full well knowing that this will SOON change...and our diets will all-too-quickly HAVE to start!) Ugh! BUT....I'm not calling it a diet....rather - it's our lifestyle change!

Shew....the weather report said it would snow - and they were completely right!!! It's like a blizzard outside and the snow is coming in sideways! Brrrr!!!! And...of course Steve had to go for a drive....he LOVES to go driving around in the snow! Sorta reminds me of a kid in a candy store.

It almost looks like a blizzard at times. The woods in the back yard behind the barn is barely visible at times.

Well....it IS supposed to snow today! And occassionally it looks like we're going to get a substantial snowfall...but then it tapers down and becomes a periodic snowFLAKE... as in singular! Sad....sad! If it's gonna be cold - then let it snow!!!

From the weather report - we're going to get slammed with snow....but I'm still not convinced. Soo bummed too....I was hoping to see the white stuff cover the ground!

Our long-time friend JW Abney was laid to rest today in Greenfield, TN. The funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church of Greenfield, TN. JW grew up in Greenfield, TN and the 1st Baptist Church was wehre JW first was saved, baptised, preached his first sermon, buried his Mother, buried his Aunt, and had countless friends to attend...and mourn his home-going.

I wanted to go, but there was too much turbulence - so we couldn't fly in.

We called the airport there and had a car available to us to drive to the church to attend the service. But once I heard that there would be turbulence - I opted NOT to go. I didn't want to risk having flight troubles! I'm a nervous flyer!

I know JW is with the Lord......happy and reuniting with those gone before him.

Chloe Grace is WALKING!!! Watch out world!!!

I loved the visit from my daughter's family. My grandchildren are growing in leaps and bounds...and it won't be long before they tower over me....I can see it already! That will definately be a sad day! Oh well....What can I say??? I inherited short genes!

Meanwhile though.....I tried to capture this precious pumpkin!!! She is sooooooo SWEET! Her hair has grown out a little more now - and it's soo curly too! Her little personality is showing through a lot more now! My heart is blessed beyond measure!

Merry Thanksgiving Christmas 2010

This year was a little out of the ordinary when our familly got together a day after Thanksgiving. We decided to celebrate Christmas as well...since we were almost all together. My daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren were visiting from Ohio and wouldn't be here for Christmas - so it was the perfect opportunity.

We decided this year - that most of the gift giving - would be for the grandchildren - and instead of going for broke, on gifts for one another - we'd do a 'white elephant' gift exchange! WOW!

What fun! It was so much fun - that I think we'll do this again every year from here on out. We had a lot of fun...loads of laughter - and no one was stressed out about spending a lot of money we don't have this year. The economy has hit us hard - and life as we used to know it - is a thing of the past!

So we're improvising - and having one of the best Christmasses I can ever remember! All too short-lived - but the memories it left behind are priceless!

A long-time friend of ours - JW Abney (James Waren), passed away peacefully Saturday morning, November 27, 2010 at 4:45am. A day I won't have any trouble remembering - as it was also my grand daughter Chloe's 1st birthday! I meant to post this yesterday - but time got away from me from the hustle and bustle of my daughter and family visiting for our Thanksgiving/Christmas celebration.

JW fought a good fight against lung cancer, and he stayed faithful to the end that God could heal him completely. God did heal him completely - as he now resides in the Kingdom of God...Heaven - where he is completely whole, completely healed, no longer suffering, and at HOME with the Lord...in the joy of God's presence!

Where we will go also one day - IF we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior - and invite Him to live inside our hearts - confessing our sin - we will have as our eternal HOME also!

JW loved the Lord! He was a retired pastor in the Baptist denomination. He left behind his wife, June and his 2 sons and their families. JW was also the pastor who performed the wedding ceremony for my daughter Michelle and son-in-law Jay's wedding. He will be greatly missed.

Although he resided in Nashville, TN for countless years - he wished to have his final resting place in Greenfield, TN where his mother (Mother Thatcher) and his Aunt Ruby are buried. His former stomping grounds - the town where he grew up.

The funeral services for JW will be at:

The unique and interesting fact about JW's passing was that he died on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Three years prior - his mother also died on the Saturday after Thanksgiving! 3 years to the day! I found that fascinating! It is the Lord who determines our days on this earth ....and His ways are higher than ours and so many things we cannot begin to understand in the reasonings. Yes, JW loved God! He loved Jesus and now is a resident in an eternal mansion in perfect health and reuniting with his mother, his aunt, and countless others who have gone on before him. He will be missed. I still hear his voice....I think I always will!

He was thankful......so very thankful! From this day forward whenever I think about JW - I will not be able to separate him from the word......THANKFUL! His last words to me echo in my mind, "Thank you!"
He loved life, he loved people, but most importantly he loved the Lord and spent his life serving Him.

Time seems to be at a stand-still....even through the busyness of my daughter's visit and departure early this morning. I realize just how short life really is! What we do EVERY day of our lives has importance and leaves a trickling affect in others' lives. I wonder who was impacted and who WILL be impacted by the rippling of JW's lifetime?! I believe that countless will and are!

My heart is enormously saddened this morning! But it's filled with emense mixed emotions.....I'm so thankful that JW is very alive and well on the other side of Jordan! IN a city that never dies - with God as the Light - and Jesus who illuminates every heart, every soul - every facet and intricate corner of a Kingdom that lasts forever! What's it like? I find myself wondering with anticipation - and even more so with each passing day! Especially with the ever increasing fact that this world is becoming more corrupt by the mili-second! And ALL the prophecy's are rapidly coming to fruition - that in the last days men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of pleasure - rather than lovers of God, rebellious and wicked generation of people who want nothing to do with God and His ways! Some having a form of righteousness but denying the power of God! Oh Lord.....have mercy on us - as we are so far removed from your righteousness and holiness! There will come a day that ALL and every knee will bow and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all!

T.I.M.E stands still for some at this very hour....and for others....life goes on without skipping a beat or acknowledging that there are those less fortunate, those who are grieving, those who are oppressed....those who are perishing!

My heart aches! My prayers seemingly turning into pleading for help Lord.......Help us! Continue to pour Your Spirit upon this earth and draw men unto Yourself! The time is so very short!

God can turn the hardest heart into soft putty! And those He chooses - into Oaks of Rightousness! A planting of the Lord for the display of His Splendor!

If someone put a frame around your life.......What portrait would they see?! What example would others follow?

My prayers are for June - now a widow, and her family! May God grant them confort in their time of sorrow, joy in knowing JW has now reuniting with those passed on before him, and peace in knowing that he now resides in a Mansion of Glory forever more - and where some day - we too - will inherit - IF we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior!

I pray that you know Jesus! If you have no Jesus....you have no peace! But to know JESUS....is to KNOW peace! If you don't know him - I pray you'll ask Him into your heart today!

I'm so excited about this Thanksgiving week because my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren are coming....along with my son and his family! Besides celebrating Thanksgiving though - we'll be having our Christmas early....as we cannot get together at Christmas.

I got busy and started the tedious process of stringing lights outside. I wanted to get it done and wire connections covered and protected before the cold and the rain set in. I made it JUST BARELY in time!

After several months on the road working at various retail stores from Texas, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi....Steve made his way back to Tennessee for a short breather.. Whew! There's no place like home!!!

He is sooo glad to be back.....

My daughter posted that question as her status on facebook today. Apparently, her husband, aka Pastor, asked his congregation the exact same question....

How do you sum up the answer in just one simple word....but if I were to choose 1 word - it would be:

JESUS

However, I responded by saying a whole lot more...... BUT...when it's all done and said and studied through...the answer will inevitably still be.....

JESUS

For by grace are we saved through FAITH in Jesus Christ! The ONLY way into Heaven's gate is through Jesus - He is the ONLY door. Without the Son - we will never have the Father! It's NOT enough to know ABOUT Jesus..We must KNOW Him. Confess... we are a sinner, ask for forgiveness for our sins, and invite Christ to live in our heart. Becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus. THEN...we are no longer bound by sin, death and the law...but set free. Who the Son sets free is free indeed! We become oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor - a radiant portrait of God...shining the Light and Love of Christ in all we do - no longer living by the flesh - but by HIS Spirit! His desires become our desires - and our desires become HIS! Producing the fruits of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. Becoming DOERS of God's Word - not hearers only! He replaces our heart of stone and gives us a heart after Him...to desire His ways..not our own! He engraves us on the palm of His hand and calls us His own and says that He will never leave or forsake us - even until the very end! Our names are written in the Lambs Book of Life - and forever we are sealed with His name...and will live with Him for all eternity. Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE - and no man comes to the Father except through HIM. CHRIS IS HOME......
It's been a long wrenching and sleepless 3 days, but finally the orders came down - and Chris was released frm the hospital! Yeah!!!

Needless to say - we are enormously TIRED! But even more is the relief from not having to sleep on a hospital bed! I think I should write a letter. WHY would they have back surgery patients lay on a bed that MOVES???! It was hard...and painful! The last thing someone with surgery wants to do is move around!

Oh well....at least we are now home - and the healing begins...

There has already been some challenges - as the walker got caught in all my throw rugs - so I rolled them and I'll have to store them for a while. I guess in time we will walker-proof the house! I wish I had grip-handles near the bed and also in the shower area! For now though - the walk-in shower will have to do.

Chris has done remarkable! He is in enormous pain and still on the morphine (which he says doesn't touch the pain) - yet some how and without a lot of sleep - he managed to eat a HUGE breakfast and then cleaned up, and stand up with his back brace on......he changed out of that fashion statement/hospital gown - and with walker in hand began to walk down the corridor of the hospital wing. Wow....he did good! Afterward he returned to his room - he sat in a chair instead of returning to bed.

The doctor came in and saw that he was already in a standing position and said, "Well physical therapy will be thrilled!" I think Chris just wanted to be out of that hospital gown!

REAL food was a motivator - I suspect! And being that he didn't eat anything bur liquids the day before - I can see why he was so hungry.

It was a rough night last night though! He fidgeted most of the night trying to make himself comfortable - but nothing really helped. Between helping him switch positions from one side of the bed to the other, adjusting his legs, padding up and supporting his body - and the all the nurses, technitions and assistants enterin the room every hour on the hour ALL NIGHT LONG and then some...whew...We did NOT sleep much!!! The day blended into the night and then back into day not even realizing how many hours slipped by in the process....You never get rest in a hospital!

It's been a very looooooooong day! My son Chris and I awoke at 4am and made our way to St. Thomas Hospital where they soon received Chris to prep him for the disk fusion surgery he was to undergo.

Chris has suffered for several years with spinal stenosis...and severe compression of the disks that pressed against the sciactic nerve causing numbness down both of his legs and into his feet. He was in pain the majority of the time - and on pain medications to help him do the normal, routine things of life. It's been a wrenching few years - and taxing on his body! It's a miracle in itself that he was able to walk at all!!!

Today however, was the day that hopefully that would end that road to destruction....which the doctors told him would inevitably cause him to become paralyzed due the severity of the compression of nerves.

The surgeons worked as a team for two and a half hours. When they began to do the lumbar laminectomy and fusion, (2 in all), they discovered yet another bulging disk and ended up fusing 3 of his disks. LC - 4&5...I don't know all the terms.... inserting 2 rods and 6 screws into his spine...whew!

Today has been a difficult day - to say the least. I last saw him at 5:30 a.m. and didn't see him again until they put him in his hospital room at 2:00 p.m.

He was in and out of consciousness and set up with a morphine pump for the pain. Pain - seems to be an understatment - I feel so horrible for him!

Even the slightest movement in or around his bed or him - causes excrusiating pain! The morphine doesn't seem to be helping...

Later in the afternoon a guy from Orthotics came and fitted him with a back brace that he will have to wear during his long 2 - 3 months of recovery. But in order for him to be fitted with it - they had to move him - and wrap the belt around him.

Soon after physical therapy worked, almost simultaneously, and made him sit up in bed. He was able to take 2 steps...and then back in bed...where they could remove his brace so he could try to find a comfortable way to situate himself.

There is no real way to situate him that elminates his tremendous discomfort and pain! Sleep for now - seems to be the best alternative to conscious

awareness!

Tomorrow will be a rough day as well! The Physical Therapist has forewarned that she will get him out of bed tomorrow and try to get him to walk a few steps and sit in a chair. I'm not sure about the walking part - but I' guess tomorrow we'll see.
