The Pool gets a new deck.....

A fresh coat of paint - that is! The pool deck was deteriorating - so we decided to paint it...which was NO easy task! Color coordinations were tremendously difficult for me - and paint colors didn't match according to the chart.

So after several attempts and wrong colors, we settled for what we had - and we'll live with it for a while before we change it again. It's not my favorite - but for now - it's what will stay!

If I do it again - (probably in a few years), I'll bring it back down to a warm cinnamon color - or something like that!

Lunch with Friends

I have to say that I am soo very excited to have our long-time ago friends Joyce and Howard back in our lives. Since we started visiting Long Hollow Baptist we have found more people we know. It's always so great! So today - after church - we stopped in at Cheddars to grab a bite to eat. Fancy that! Chris, being the privileged employee of Cheddars got a table in record speed! Thanks Chris!

I sure do enjoy great friends!

A Special Visit with Special Friends...

My long-time friends June and JW. I haven't seen them in such a long while. Recently, JW was diagnosed with lung cancer, (of all things - as he's never smoked a day in his life!), and he had surgery a few short weeks ago.

The doctors have told him that the cancer has gone into the lymph nodes...but he is believing that God has healed him completely! I praying that as well!

It was too short a visit - and LONG overdue!

A storm a-brewing!

Lately we have been bombarded with thunderstorms...
In light of the Nashville flood a few short weeks ago - the very last thing we need is more rain!

THEN....just as fast as it came - it left and replaced the skies with sunshine!

And now - we wait......til the next wave of thunderstorms passes through!

Seasons sure have changed.....
Every day we are witnesses to something catastrophic in our world....and soo many people are suffering...having to rebuild their lives, their homes, etc. It just makes me stop....and wonder.....reflect.....think...

Perhaps our God of the universe is preparing .....

just possibly....

a wakeup call...

COME...................LORD JESUS!

Pink Sky at Night...

Another display of God's magnificent handiwork!

I LOVE the sunsets here...every day is a delight and feast for my eyes! What was even more amazing was the fact that when looking at the skies to the left....it was magnificently PINK......and toward the right the sky transformed into an orange glow! I've never seen anything like it.
Just B - E - A - U - T - I - F - U - L!!!

A Peculiar Visitor

We had an unusual little visitor to grace us with his sloooowwww presence! He was a tad scary too. I never realized how large their tails can be. Although Steve was excited about him, he was creepy to me. In any case, we stood and watched him for a while. I didn't have my camera ready when Steve turned on the hose in front of his face. He literally buried his face in the water - taking a slow drink. It was fascinating! And then Steve thought he'd show his bite...by getting a broom handle - but he stayed perfectly still. Poor BIG fella! Good gracious! I don't know where he was headed - but he looked like he wanted to take residence under our back porch deck. In any case, he is gone! We don't have a clue where he went.

Matt's Graduation Day

My son Matt graduated from college this past weekend and I am so proud of him for his accomplishment!
It's been a long time coming - 10 years in fact - that I remember loading up small U-Haul filled with his belongings and made the long trek across the countryside into South Carolina.
Matt started with thoughts of Missionary Aviation - which soon changed to Aviation Management. Half way through the degree completion - he was called into active service with the United States Marine Corps. All school courses had to be postponed and Matt was deployed to Djibouti, Africa for nearly a year. It was there that Matt led the praise and worship for over 1,500 men while in Djibouti - and was recognized for it. I had never been so proud of my son!
He seems to always set goals for himself and then sets out to accomplish them - and accomplishing them - he does.
When he returned back to the United States, he resumed his reservist status from the Marine Corp. and started school again at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.
We were hopeful that he would not have to be deployed again - but soon after he married his lovely Jessie, the Marine Corp. called Matt to active service once again. Only the deployment would take him to Iraq. Matt was due to get out of the military ONE MONTH before they were going to deploy him. But after having a stroke, those plans changed.
Matt persevered, and had no debilitating problems resulting from the stroke, and the military allowed him to get out of the service entirely. Praise God! I wasn't excited about the idea of him going to Iraq and prayed against it.
Matt kept his eyes on the prize...the goal of graduating from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. I'm so very very proud of him!

Nashville's Mill Creek Floods - May 1, 2010

Nashville I-24 Flooded from Mill Creek with Building Floating By in Tenn...

Strong Storms Hit Tennessee

Since yesterday the state of Tennessee has been under extremely strong thunder storms, high winds, tornadoes, flooding and all-in-all - record breaking weather!
Needless to say, it's a tad unnerving riding out the storms!  Storms - meaning that as one passes - we are bombarded with even more!!!
Yesterday was a never-to-be-forgotten sight as the Interstate 24 toward Franklin and Cool Springs areas, (a tad south of Nashville), became a river.  Semi-trucks and cars became submerged under water  - with what used to be a highway!  A house was seen floating down the new Interstate 24 river and then smashed into a semi-truck - breaking it to pieces!! People were stranded everywhere, parking lots and streets became rivers, flooding many streets and back yards, roads washed out completely!  Police rescue boats being launched onto what used to be Interstate 24! Several highways were closed in parts: I-24, I-65 and I-40!  Definately record breaking rainfall and weather and something we won't soon forget!!!

Mother's Day Bouquet

My husband has been a little over zealous.....but sweet!  He didn't want to forget Mother's Day this year - especially that he is traveling.....so I received a call this morning....(which is good - because I was going to leave for the day), stating that they had a delivery and wanted to make sure that I'd be home.  Well - after a series of calls and a few mis-guided directions, (one namely being on the WRONG highway), my bouquet of flowers arrived.

WOW!  A bowl of beautiful flowers!
 I LOVE FLOWERS!!!!
But who were they from?????  I could hardly stand the anticipation as I had a short conversation with the delivery gal.  Someone had written that I lived on Hwy 76....which is quite a distance from me.... but she finally found me.

It was my husband that had remembered me for Mother's Day......sooo sweet....
.....There was only one problem....
It was a week early!
:)
I don't mind....
Now I can enjoy my flowers a whole week before Mother's Day!
Thank you Steve!!! :)
