Matt's Graduation Day

My son Matt graduated from college this past weekend and I am so proud of him for his accomplishment!
It's been a long time coming - 10 years in fact - that I remember loading up small U-Haul filled with his belongings and made the long trek across the countryside into South Carolina.
Matt started with thoughts of Missionary Aviation - which soon changed to Aviation Management. Half way through the degree completion - he was called into active service with the United States Marine Corps. All school courses had to be postponed and Matt was deployed to Djibouti, Africa for nearly a year. It was there that Matt led the praise and worship for over 1,500 men while in Djibouti - and was recognized for it. I had never been so proud of my son!
He seems to always set goals for himself and then sets out to accomplish them - and accomplishing them - he does.
When he returned back to the United States, he resumed his reservist status from the Marine Corp. and started school again at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.
We were hopeful that he would not have to be deployed again - but soon after he married his lovely Jessie, the Marine Corp. called Matt to active service once again. Only the deployment would take him to Iraq. Matt was due to get out of the military ONE MONTH before they were going to deploy him. But after having a stroke, those plans changed.
Matt persevered, and had no debilitating problems resulting from the stroke, and the military allowed him to get out of the service entirely. Praise God! I wasn't excited about the idea of him going to Iraq and prayed against it.
Matt kept his eyes on the prize...the goal of graduating from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. I'm so very very proud of him!
