Yesterday....Sunday....Father's Day...June 20, 2010

I didn't post this yesterday - and so the date will read the 21st....which makes me....LATE!
Yesterday was Father's Day.  A day to remember our dad's and give them recognition and tell them so.

For my son Josh, it was his very 1st Father's Day - and he was so proud he could now officially join among the thousands of other dads in celebrating the day that they have children....and children celebrating their dads....but for Josh - it was a new child.....his first born son!  He is so proud!!!  And I can see why....Micah is beautiful!!!

For others - it was a joyous celebration - as an elderly couple at church were renewing their vows before the congregation after 62 years of marriage!  WOW!  That was pretty awesome!!!

For some however, it was a painful reminder....that sadly - they don't have their dads here any longer - some for year's past and friends we know -  just recently. The heartache is, at times, seemingly unbearable! And my heart grieves with them - through their pain...... I pray....for comfort and peace~!
But for another set of friends we know - it was a painful reminder that their beloved daughter, who was recently killed in an auto accident - is no longer here to celebrate her birthday!!! The crash sight has now become a cross memorial, bearing her name, and Happy Birthday balloons and flowers now grace the marker and her headstone.  We thought her car was parked close by, and we turned around to find her, but found no one.  Earlier that morning in our Sunday School class, he broke down in relentless tears that flowed easily, along with spurts of broken words spoken through sobs of grief!  My heart  aches for their pain and suffering - and I pray that God can comfort and heal their brokenness!  It's one thing to lose a child - but they also, (in some respects) lost their grand daughter as well.  Since the accident, they have been unable to see their surviving grand daughter - and it's tearing them up inside and out, rendering them incapable of wanting to continue to live!  Lord, I pray for strength, peace and comfort in their brokenness....

As for Steve's Father's Day...
He and I ventured out after church, had lunch at Carrabbas, (YUM!!!), and a brief visit to see  Josh and Danielle and new grandson Micah, and then onward to an uncertain path trying to find land for sale!  We found a few parcels that we want more information about!
Our son Chris had to work.....which was a bummer!  Josh was busy with his new family, our daughter was in another state - and well...our son and his wife - also in yet another state!  :(
I'm not sure I like this empty nest thing 100%!  In some ways - it has its advantages - and in others....it's kinda sad...and lonely! :(

By the time we ended up home....we were blessed to witness another beautiful, God-given sunset!  Sooo beautiful!!!  God is sooo good!!!
